First and foremost, Outdoor Creations begins with quality woods, most of which are native to northern WI and upper MI. We use some exotic (though no endangered) woods for accenting and increased strength. We carefully select materials for each part of the net, paddle, or product, looking for the correct grain pattern, strength and natural beauty.
I approach my craftsman ship with both care and personalization, I seek beautiful wood and work to draw that beauty out without compromising its strength. I do not use heat or steam in the bending process so as to not compromise the integrity of the wood's fiber. Instead we use a high carbon steel backer as our bending guide. All of our finished products have from seven to eleven coats of a durable, hand rubbed oil finish on them.
I am always amazed at the true, natural beauty of wood as well as the process of drawing it out for everyone to see and enjoy.
